San Carlos is surrounded by hundreds of miles of trails that explore the Sonora desert, mountains and huge beaches along the Sea of Cortez. There are huge stables at the former Club Med resort now called Paradiso. You can rent by the hour or the day. They have guided tours exploring the desert, rocky canyons and miles and miles of sandy beaches. For beginners, or riders at any level. There isn't a more classic method to explore the Mexican arid coastal environment. Bring water and lunch and get lost for an afternoon.
